Exporting your podcast

So you've pulled together that compelling show. Now what should you do with it? Share it, of course! RecordForAll gives you several ways to do this. You can connect your computer to your stereo and use the playback features to listen to your show right away.

Want to take it to go? Then set it up for transfer to a handheld player. Virtually all recent flash and hard-drive based players are supported, including Rio, iRiver, Creative Labs, Philips, Samsung, Apple, and other models that support playback or conversion of WMA files.

To export your Playlist to a portable Windows device

  1. Create your very best show.
    Check the file size on your Windows device. A typical 80-minute show runs about 77 MB.

  2. Connect the portable device or drive to your computer.

  3. Click above the Playlist.

  4. Select Export my playlist to iPod or other portable device.

  5. From the Export To drop-down list, select your device.

  6. From the Export Format drop-down list, select a format.

  7. Type the artist and title name for your show and click OK.

To export your Playlist to an iPod

RecordForAll is smart about your iPod. When you export your Playlist to an iPod, it's exported to your iTunes library. If your iPod is connected to your computer, RecordForAll tells iTunes to synchronize with your iPod. If the iPod isn't connected, it will be synchronized automatically the next time you hook it up.

  1. Create your very best show.

  2. Click above the Playlist.

  3. From the Export To drop-down list, select iTunes and iPod.

  4. Enter the artist and title name for your show and click OK.

To export your Playlist to WAV

This format can consume up to 10 MBs of hard disk space per minute of your show.

  1. Create your very best show.

  2. Click above the Playlist.

  3. Select Export my playlist to one or more files.
    RecordForAll displays the estimated file size at the bottom of the dialog box.

  4. From the Save As Type drop-down list, select Mixed Wave File (*.wav).

  5. Type the desired filename (e.g., filename.wav).

  6. From the Format drop-down list, select a format.

  7. Select any additional options you want to use. If you want:

    1. to save individual files for each track in your Playlist, select Automatically create separate files for each track.

    2. the tracks in your Playlist to be separated at the label markers you've created, select Create separate files using label marker.

  8. Click Save.

To export your Playlist to MP3 format

  1. Create your very best show.

  2. Click above the Playlist.

  3. Select Export my playlist to one or more files.
    RecordForAll displays the estimated file size at the bottom of the dialog box.

  4. From the Save As Type drop-down list, select MP3 (*.mp3).

  5. Type the desired filename (e.g., filename.mp3).

  6. From the Format drop-down list, select a format.

  7. Click Save.

To export your Playlist to WMA (Windows Media) format

This format is considerably more compact than WAV format at 1 MB or less per minute of sound, so this makes it a good choice if you're posting your Playlist to the Web or transferring it to a portable device.

  1. Create your very best show.

  2. Click above the Playlist.

  3. Select Export my playlist to one or more files.
    RecordForAll displays the estimated file size at the bottom of the dialog box.

  4. From the Save As Type drop-down list, select Mixed WMA File (*.wma).

  5. Type the desired filename (e.g., filename.wma).

  6. From the Format drop-down list, select a format.

  7. Click Save.
